Kurdish forces take over Sinjar from ISIL

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) rebels have been pushed out by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces from Sinjar and entered the centre of the northern Iraqi town, . The Peshmerga forces are forces are responsible for defending the land, people and institutions of the Kurdistan Region under the overall formal leadership of the President of Iraqi Kurdistan. The Sinjar Mountain was taken over by ISIL in August last year in a massacre that caused the flight of thousands of Kurdish-speaking Yazidi, and first nudged the US to launch air-strikes against the ISIL and on August 8th,2014 the first round of air-strikes began giving way to the beginning of a much larger coalition effort to battle the ISL in Iraq and Syria. According to reports the Peshmerga entered the Sinjar almost unopposed. With backing of US-led air strikes, the Kurds managed to cut Sinjar off from the east and west on Thursday, in a critical move to provide momentum in the efforts to defeat ISIL
