A Sri Lankan woman who was working in Saudi Arabia as a domestic help was subjected to violent abuse, including beatings over a period of 6 months. She spoke to our news team yesterday.
The Sri Lankan embassy in Saudi Arabia had not dealt with the case appropriately , though several reports of abuse had been made.
The 35-year-old S. A. Dineshaa, originally from Galenbindunuwaewa in Anuradhapura set out for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for domestic service on 3rd January, 2013.
Reports say that her employer had transferred her to another place of employment after just a few months.
Later she had been deployed to several other houses to serve as housemaid.
Speaking to our news team S. A. Dineshaa stated that the owners of these houses had assaulted her on several occasions.
